A1 card (up to 125 cc): from 16 years old

A2 card: from 18 years old

It is the youngest motorcycle license of all, since it was introduced in our country in 2009 as an intermediate step before being able to carry any type of motorcycle. Obtaining the A2 license allows you to drive motorcycles with or without a sidecar up to 35 kW and a ratio / power equal to or less than 0.2 kW / kg. With the A2 license you can also take motorcycles with an original power greater than 35 kW up to 70 kW limited to 35 kW.

License A, for all types of motorcycles without limit: from 20 years old

To get this card, it is necessary to have two years of experience with the A2 permit. Therefore, the minimum age to be able to obtain the A card is 20 years old . With the A card you can take all types of motorcycles without any limit, three-wheelers and quadricycles, the latter two types from the age of 21.


21 years: card B + 3 years

If you have a B car license and you have more than 3 years of experience with this license, you do not have to take any exam to obtain the B motorcycle license: this license allows you to drive the vehicles authorized by the A1 license. Therefore, 21 years of age are the earliest age in which this circumstance can be fulfilled. With this measure, it is intended to encourage the use of motorcycles up to 125 cc although it is a validation that is only valid for Spain.
