MotoGP: Do you know how much World Championship riders earn?
Do you know how much the MotoGP World Championship riders earn? One of those questions that you have always asked yourself has an answer, and we will reveal it to you.
Do you know how much MotoGP riders earn? Undoubtedly, it is one of the questions that most fans of the Motorcycle World Championship ask ourselves, and the answers many times do not appear or enter the scene without much accuracy. Every year, in addition to the battle on the track, other battles are also fought in the offices to satisfy the maximum protagonists of MotoGP.
This leads us to wonder how much the most renowned riders in the premier class can charge. A salary, yours, which also varies depending on your advertising income, which in some cases even exceeds the salary paid by the factories or teams for which they compete. Of all of them, who is the rider who wins the most in MotoGP?
Surely this position is relatively clear to you. Valentino Rossi is the one who receives the most money in the MotoGP World Championship. According to different sources, we can say that the Italian rider's salary will currently be around 20 million euros per year, of which practically half comes from his advertising income with brands such as Monster Energy, Yamaha itself, Dainese, or the Pata snack brand.
For his part, Jorge Lorenzo today will charge about 15 million euros, with less advertising revenue than Rossi, although he does not lack girlfriends in this section either (Prink, Monster, Alpinestars, etc.). His signing for Ducat i has made his economic cache increase, since his contract will be about 12.5 million euros per season, to which would have to be added about 5-6 million for advertising, which would leave him close de Rossi with about 18 million euros in total.
The third in contention is Marc Márquez, who until this year had his income around 10-11 million euros. The Cervera driver is getting more and more advertising contracts like Oakley, Danet, or Lotus, which little by little increase a fairly competitive salary. To this must be added his new contract with Honda, which is surely something better than the current one.
In the case of Dani Pedrosa, the Catalan figures his salary income at 5 million euros. His status as the number 2 rider at Honda and the fact that he has not yet achieved a MotoGP title mean that his salary is also slightly reduced. The one that still does not have reliable data is Maverick Viñales, who was said to have been offered 5 million per season by Suzuki, although his signing for Yamaha brings with it a salary reduction that would place him at the same level as Pedrosa or very close to his domains. Remember that Viñales also has sponsorship agreements with strong agents such as Red Bull or Vodafone.
Regarding the rest of the pilots of the premier class, for example, the salary that Pol Espargaró and Bradley Smith will receive in KTM or Aleix Espargaró in Aprilia is unknown. Even so, the estimate is that these pilots, together with Cal Crutchlow and the two Ducati pilots, have salaries of around 2 million euros. Already below the million-euro border, we would find names like Héctor Barberá or Álvaro Bautista.
